Journalism is Dangerous

Media workers are particularly at risk in Syria, Mexico, Afghanistan, Pakistanand Somalia, according to statistics for the past year from Reporters Without Borders (RWB). At the end of 2019, 389 media professionals were imprisoned worldwide, twelve percent more than in 2018. A particularly large number (120) were in China. At least 49 reporters were killed. At least 57 were kidnapped. In Syria, for example, 26 media representatives are imprisoned, according to information from RWB. The journalist organization assumes the number is higher.
