If you lose a debit card or a credit card, you should block your card immediately. This is important so no one who may have found or stolen the card can withdraw or transfer money from your account. These cards can be blocked by calling 116 116. This is a free telephone number within Germany. In German it is called a “Sperr-Notruf”. If the card was stolen, you should report it to the police immediately.
