Sitting, watching, surfing – all is made possible by the new “Smart-Bänkle”. It is situated in front of the municipal utility’s headquarters in the Tübinger Eisenhutstraße 6 and, until October 17th, in the outdoor pool Tübingen. The two intelligent benches offer a public Wi-Fi hotspot and charging opportunities for the smartphone. The free Wi-Fi helps shorten the waiting time and one can easily charge their phone on the bench, even without a cable. The “Smart-Bänkle” are equipped with solar modules at the top. Because of this, these innovative benches are powered completely by themselves and are 100 percent climate neutral. Thanks to the built-in battery, the “Smart-Bänkle” is completely independent from external energy.
