Longer children’s sick pay for parents

Because of the corona-pandemic, statutory insured employees have a claim to 20 instead of ten days of children’s sick pay per parent – therefore 40 days together. For single parents, this claim doubles from 20 to 40 days. This applies, if children under the age of twelve are sick and when the parents or single parents have to take care of them at home, because of the closed day care centers and schools. The Bundesrat has now also agreed to this, following the Bundestag. The claim to children’s sick pay applies retrospectively from the 5th of January, when Federal President… Read More

That winter, there was a lot of snowfall.  Syria is situated in the eastern Mediterranean and borders on Turkey, Lebanon, Iraq, Jordan and Palestine. This special position between three different continents and cultures is important. It shapes Syria and gave the country a diversity in many areas, including nature, climate… Read More

Women can also be extremists

By Natalie Hekmat When we imagine extremists, we often think of aggressive and violent men. This was the consensus of the speakers at the symposium “Extrem.ist.in. Women in Salafist and right-wing extremist milieus” in Stuttgart-Hohenheim. However, women are also frequently found in such groups and take on essential tasks there. For example, they transmit extremist ideologies or become violent toward people who correspond to their image of the enemy. However, they are often not taken seriously as perpetrators and are seen as victims of or just “the wives of” male perpetrators. According to the speakers Derya Şahan and Judith Raner,… Read More
