New Corona rules in effect after Christmas

New Corona rules will be in place in Baden-Württemberg starting Monday, December 27th. They are intended to prevent “the omicron variant from spreading rapidly and the infection numbers skyrocketing again,” according to the state ministry.

The rules in detail:

Ten vaccinated and recovered people are allowed to meet indoors, and 50 vaccinated and recovered people are allowed to meet outdoors. And if one unvaccinated person comes, a household may only meet with two people from another household. This also applies to birthday or wedding parties in restaurants. Children and adolescents up to and including 13 years of age are generally not counted.

All adults including and above 18 years of age should wear an FFP2 mask (or KN95, N95, KF94, or KF95 mask) indoors where masks are mandatory, such as during shopping or public transportation.

Establishments offering food and drink must close between 10:30 p.m. and 5 a.m. Only on the night from New Year’s Eve to New Year’s Day is the closing time extended till 1 am.

Exceptions to the 2G-plus rule (i.e.: vaccinated, recovered plus test) only apply to people who have been fully vaccinated for no more than three months or recovered persons whose infection with the Corona virus occurred no more than three months prior.

No test is required for anyone who has received a booster vaccination. Or for whom the Standing Commission on Vaccination does not recommend a booster vaccination. These are “children and adolescents with complete vaccination protection up to and including age 17,” according to the state ministry.

Only up to 50 percent of capacity or a maximum of 500 spectators are allowed to attend sports, cultural, informational, club events and congresses at the current alert level II.

This Corona ordinance is initially in effect until Jan. 24, 2022.
