“If tünews INTERNATIONAL didn’t exist, you’d have to invent it,” Jürgen Hirning of the Green Party figuratively “tipped his hat” at the April 27, 2022 meeting of the Tübingen County Social and Cultural Committee. Wolfgang Sannwald had reported a formal change to the committee. In 2021, the supporting association KulturGUT e.V. founded its own non-profit company tünews INTERNATIONAL gUG (haftungsbeschränkt). In view of the 3.5 million hits on the website www.tuenews.de, this corporate form is intended to free the association’s board of directors from liability risk. The district council of the district of Tübingen makes tünews INTERNATIONAL possible with 177,000 euros annually.
On the occasion of the report also Eugen Höschele for the CDU parliamentary group emphasized the “pioneer achievement” of tünews: “With us there was already skepticism at the beginning. But in the meantime, we are convinced that this is a good way to do great integration work at a low social threshold. … The money we use here is saved in many other places.” Uta Schwarz-Österreicher thanked for the SPD faction “for this great project tünews INTERNATIONAL and its successes.”
Hirning himself has been involved with refugees in Gomaringen and reported further, “I know that our people in Gomaringen look at it regularly. And in the last two years with all the Corona regulations, it was indispensable for them. They would never have been able to manage otherwise.” In the meantime, he would always say, “Why don’t you look in tünews first, maybe it’s already in there.” Hirning said: “With tünews, we’ve achieved something very important and groundbreaking.”
