Integration courses: Help with Arrival

To help refugees from Ukraine find their way in Germany, the federal government offers integration courses and services for those seeking protection from Ukraine who have a temporary residence permit under Section 24 of the Residence Act. This can be read on the website of the Federal Ministry of the Interior. Each integration course consists of a language course and an orientation course. General integration courses last 700 teaching units of 45 minutes each.
In addition to these general integration courses, there are also special offers, for example for women, parents or young people, as well as intensive courses. At the end of the integration course there is a language test and a final test on life in Germany. If both tests are passed, a certificate is awarded. Counseling and participation in the courses are usually free of charge, provided that a residence title is available. Refugees from Ukraine in particular have access to all courses sponsored by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF). Anyone wishing to register for a course must first submit an application to the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF). This is possible both online and by mail. If necessary, the employment agency will help Ukrainian refugees with the application and the search for language courses. Courses in each region can be found on the BAMF-NAvI website (https://bamf-navi.bamf.de/en/Themen/Integrationskurse/).
Before they can participate in an integration course, migrants must pass an entrance test. A language test is used to determine individual needs and which courses are best suited to their situation. The integration courses are run by certified educational providers. Migrants can attend the courses on a part-time or full-time basis. There is a subsidy for travel costs if the course location is at least three kilometers from the place of residence.
Information on all courses and offers as well as on registration requirements can be found in the information letter “Integration Offers for Refugees from Ukraine”:
