Regulations for child seats in the car

Child seats are very important for the safety of children in the car. In Germany, the regulations on the use of child seats are clearly defined to ensure the safety of the little ones.
According to the Road Traffic Regulations (StVO), children up to the age of 12 or a height of 150 cm must be secured in a suitable child seat. The choice of child seat depends on the age, weight and height of the child and is divided into different groups:
– Group 0/0+: For babies and toddlers up to around 13 kg (approx. up to 15 months),
– Group I: For children from 9 to 18 kg (approx. 9 months to 4 years),
– Group II: For children from 15 to 25 kg (approx. 3 to 7 years),
– Group III: For children from 22 to 36 kg (approx. 6 to 12 years).

Best possible protection for children
The seat should be tested and approved in accordance with the current safety standards (ECE-R 44/04 or i-Size). The child seat must also be installed correctly, either with the vehicle seat belt or using the Isofix system, which enables a particularly secure attachment.
It is important that the child car seat is always used in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and the legal requirements. This ensures the best possible protection in the vehicle.
