Professional language courses in German are offered to people with a migration background who can improve their chances on the labour market by taking them. The courses teach German language skills that are needed in the professional world. You learn the vocabulary, idioms and grammar needed to communicate in the workplace. You also practise writing professional e-mails and letters or understanding texts such as operating instructions. The courses also cover knowledge about job interviews, employment contracts and the specifics of the German labour market.
The courses are aimed at people who need a certain language level for professional recognition or to access the labour market, who are in training or looking for a training position, who are registered as unemployed and/or receive unemployment benefits, or who have a job and whose German language skills are insufficient to cope with everyday work. A requirement for participation is proven knowledge of German at language level B1.
Participation is free of charge for unemployed persons, while those in employment with an annual taxable income of more than 20,000 euros pay a course fee.
In Tübingen and Rottenburg, several organisations offer such courses. An overview of all courses starting in the near future, including as early as November 2024, can be found at:

In this table, the vocational language courses are labelled ‘Berufsbezogener Deutschkurs (BSK)’ in the left column.
