The Parents’ School of the Mother and Child Center at the University Women’s Hospital in Tübingen offers pregnant women and their families many free information events. They are designed to help prepare for the birth, parenthood and the arrival of a new family member. They are available both at the women’s clinic and online. As a rule, you do not need to register.
The school regularly provides information about the maternity clinic and the delivery room on an evening. There is also an online forum for parents-to-be and a baby massage workshop. There are also fathers’ evenings, seminars on nutrition during pregnancy and breastfeeding, how to carry your baby correctly and on back problems during pregnancy. Information is also provided on breastfeeding, baby nutrition in the first year of life, parental allowance and other financial benefits during pregnancy, birth and parental leave. Grandparents are also catered for: “Hurray—we’re going to be grandparents” is the name of the information evening. The Parents’ School also offers courses—for a fee—in first aid for children, yoga for pregnant women, back exercises and birth preparation. Some courses are covered by health insurance.
