Are young people particularly strong carriers of the virus?

Data from South Korea shows that people under 30 are more likely to be infected with the coronavirus. This was reported today by SPIEGEL online under the title “Young and naive”. Even if these people rarely become seriously ill, they could infect significantly more people than other age groups.

According to a study by the Harvard University, almost 30 percent of those infected in South Korea are between 20 and 29 years old. No deaths have been reported from this age group in South Korea as of yet. Even if young people do not become seriously ill, they can put older people and people with previous illnesses at risk. Moreover, people in this age group are in contact with ten times more people than others and can, therefore, infect up to ten times more people. The data from South Korea is also of great importance for Germany because the country has a similar medical and economic setup.
