Cannabis legal for adults

Adults have been allowed to smoke weed in Germany since 1 April—if they comply with certain rules. The Bundestag and Bundesrat have decided that the possession of 25 grams of dried cannabis is permitted in public. At home, anyone over the age of 18 may even possess 50 grams. Smoking is also permitted in public, but not within 100 metres of schools, daycare centres, youth centres or sports facilities. Individual trains from Tübingen not running

Individual trains on the routes from Tübingen to Aulendorf and to Bad Urach will be canceled. This applies from Tuesday, April 9, to Friday, May 3. The reason is maintenance work, according to Deutsche Bahn. Both the changed timetables and replacement buses can be found on the railroad’s website https://www.bahn.de/. The clock goes forward at Easter

Next Sunday, 31 March 2024, Central European Time (CET), which is officially valid throughout Europe, will be changed to “summer time”. Anyone who is still awake in the early morning will set their clock forward from 2 am to 3 am. This means sleeping one hour shorter. Stores closed over Easter

Easter is just around the corner and with it a long weekend. Good Friday, March 29, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday, March 31 and April 1, are public holidays in Germany. All stores are closed on these public holidays and the authorities are closed. So if you still have to do your shopping for the egg hunt or Easter dinner, you should hurry. Register for trainee speed dating

You can even find apprenticeships at speed dating. Pupils in the 2024 to 2026 graduating years from all secondary schools can try this out on Thursday, April 18, at Tübingen’s Sparkassen Carré (Mühlbachäckerstraße 2). There they can get to know 39 companies from the region in an uncomplicated way. The trainee speed dating is between 9 am and 4 pm. Women of all nationalities can sew and chat together again. The workshop in the building next door to the Passerelle project (Hechinger Straße 94) will open on Mondays from 9.00 am to 12.00 pm from Monday, 22 April. The offer is free of charge. Few trains between Tübingen and Stuttgart

The train journey from Tübingen to Stuttgart will be complicated. Between Friday, 22 March at 9 pm and Tuesday after Easter, 2 April at 4.45 am, the line between Wendlingen and Metzingen will be closed. The reason is construction work. There will therefore be restrictions on SWEG lines 6, 12 and 18. Line 6 from Stuttgart to Tübingen will not be running. Ukrainian film “20 Days in Mariupol” wins Oscar

The documentary “20 Days in Mariupol” by director and videographer Mstislav Chernov has won an Oscar in the “Best Documentary” category. This was announced during the live broadcast of the 2024 Academy Awards ceremony on the evening of March 11. This is the first Oscar for Ukraine. The film depicts the events at the beginning of the full-scale invasion, when Russia began destroying peaceful towns in Ukraine.
