Neighbours helping risk groups

People over 60 and chronically ill persons are part of the risk groups that need special protection against the corona virus. In order to enable them to stay at home and avoid contact with infected people, various volunteer initiatives have been set up in Tübingen to take care of shopping, errands, help in the garden or with childcare. They can be reached, for example, on the Facebook page “Nachbarschaftschallenge Tübingen”. People who want to help out can also get in touch through that Facebook page. Can malaria medication help against the corona virus?

Tübingen-based tropical doctors are planning to use a drug that was developed to combat malaria on corona patients. This drug might prevent the multiplication of the corona virus in the organism of infected patients. The scientists have applied for a scientific study for this purpose, which could yield initial results in as little as four weeks. The number of rumors and fake news about Corona has continued to rise. They are distributed via messenger services or social media which is causing anxiety among the masses.
