Single, healthy and employable adult men can currently not be deported to Afghanistan. This was decided by the Higher Administrative Court (VGH) in Mannheim. The reason for the deportation ban is the fact that through the corona pandemic, the economic situation has worsened significantly. The deported man could probably not “satisfy his most basic needs, such as food, shelter and hygiene, by legal means,” states the VGH in a press release. However, the court sees the situation differently, if the man, who is supposed to be deported, has a family or social network, is being supported financially or owns enough capital himself.
