Day care centers and schools to stay closed until February 21st / Emergency care continues

Day care centers and primary schools in Baden-Württemberg won’t be opened before February 21st either. Consequently, only remote teaching will be available until the carnival holidays. Special regulations are only possible for the graduating classes. However, emergency care continues to be offered. This was announced by Governor Winfried Kretschmann on Thursday evening. The state forgoes its previous plan with this decision. It was planned that day care centers and primary schools will be opened again on February 1st, as small children supposedly suffer under the consequences of the lockdown the most. The reason for stopping the earlier opening: 18 children and educators from a day care center in Freiburg have been diagnosed with the mutated corona virus from South Africa. This virus is apparently spreading faster and is more contagious. Therefore, a loosening of the corona regulations is currently not possible, said Kretschmann.
