Parents can calculate with more money, starting January 1st, 2021. The child allowance (Kinderzuschlag or short KiZ) for families with a low income is being raised on this date. It is being raised to up to 205 Euros for each child and month. Parents will receive the child allowance in addition to child and housing benefits. Parents can check if they’re eligible for the child allowance using the KiZ-Lotsen by the family benefits department. If they’re eligible, they can apply for the child allowance online with their family benefits department. This was announced by the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs. The child allowance is also being raised by 15 Euros, starting January 1st. Parents then receive 219 Euros for their first and second child, 225 Euros for the third and 240 Euros for the fourth child and on.
The child support advance payment for single parents is also rising in the coming year. Depending on the age of the child, this is between nine and 16 Euros.
