Support for relatives in Afghanistan in the Tübingen asylum center

Because of the current threat situation, many people are worried about their relatives and friends in Afghanistan, who are still in the country. The Tübingen asylum center is offering consultation appointments and support: all data of the affected person in Afghanistan as well as a statement about the threat level, if possible with proof, is recorded in a form. The asylum center then sends this form to the Federal Foreign Office. During a press conference on 25th August, the Federal Foreign Office stated “that the end of the airlift, the end of the military evacuation operation, doesn’t mean the end of our efforts to help people, for who we are responsible, leave the country and get to safety”. According to the Federal Agency of Migration and Refugees (BAMF), not only German citizens but also people who worked for the German government (so-called local employees), journalists, human rights activists and employees of NGOs as well as their families will be accommodated in Germany. In the government’s press conference, creative artists and scientists were also named. People whose relatives don’t fall in these categories can still come to the consultation. In these cases, the workers of the asylum center try to provide additional information and contact to other emergency programs.

For the consultation in the asylum center, an appointment has to be made beforehand. The phone number and opening times can be found on their website:
