In everyday life you sometimes come across the word “workday” or ” Werktag”. For example, on traffic signs. A workday is a day on which one works. Usually these are Monday to Saturday. A workday is in contrast to a Sunday or public holiday. There is no work on these days. Of course, there are exceptions – in some occupations, people also work on Sundays and public holidays. “Werktags”, therefore, means working days that are generally Monday through Saturday.
