World Refugee Day

On Thursday, 20.06.19 the World Refugee Day is held globally. This day was declared to be a worldwide day of action by the United Nations in 2001, in order to shed light on the fates of refugees around the world and work towards improving their living situations. In Germany, this day was declared the national commemoration day for the victims of displacement and expulsion, to bring special attention to the victims of the Second World War as well. Numerous humanitarian organisations around the world will take action on this day to support refugees around the world.

Graffiti-workshop for children

The Werkstadthaus Tuebingen is offering a graffiti-workshop, where children can learn how to use spray cans, create stencils and their own paper as well. The workshop will take place from 17th to 21.06.19, always from 8.30 to 1 p.m. and is aimed at children between 6 and 12 years old. The workshop has a regular price of 99 Euros and only 13 Euros for owners of a KreisBonusCard Junior or KinderCard. It is important to wear clothes that can get dirty and are expendable! Punting boat race in Tuebingen!

Soon the annual Stocherkahnrennen (punting boat race) will take place. In this competition, different student groups will race each other in traditional punting boats. This is a traditional event of the university city of Tuebingen and attracts oftentimes more than 10,000 visitors. The race will lead around the Neckar isle and bridge. The event will be held on Thursday, 20.06.19 and start at 1 p.m. with a costume parade. Thus, everyone wanting to see it all should come early!

Career counselling for young people

The Jugendberufsagentur (Youth Job Agency) Tuebingen offers counselling for young people planning to work or study. In the counselling, one can receive information on how to take up studies or vocational training and what the prerequisites exist. If one is not sure, whether they want to work or study or cannot find an adequate place, one can also attend counselling. Everyone wanting to receive counselling can fill out a contact form on the website von the Jugendberufsagentur. After that, the counselling service will report back and establish a connection with the responsible institutions, in order to provide answers to all questions regarding work and studies.
