The Tübingen Asylum Center calls the situation in the refugee camps on Greek islands “shameful for Europe”. In an open letter to Baden-Württemberg’s Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann and Interior Minister Thomas Strobl, the center asked to “get people out of the extreme hardship” and accept them into Baden-Württemberg. For humanitarian reasons, the Asylum Center sees “a duty to act” in difficult situations. According to the Asylum Center, the country’s own initiative can also serve as an example in Europe of European and Christian values and human rights.
