Are landlords allowed to put the rent deposit on their private account? The landlord must deposit the deposit at a bank, separate from their own assets, so that the money is not lost in the event of bankruptcy or insolvency. The tenant may pay the deposit in three installments. The first installment is due when the tenancy begins and not when the contract is concluded. The next two installments
are then due together with the next two rental payments.
