Starting Tuesday: Kindergartens and schools to be closed
The daycare centres and schools in Tübingen will remain open on Monday, 16th March. However, parents who do not work as doctors, nurses, in doctor’s offices, in public transport, in the police or fire brigade and such, should avoid bringing their children to the daycare centres. This will reduce the risk of infection.
From Tuesday, 17th March, until the end of the Easter holidays, daycare centres and schools will be closed due to the coronavirus.
From Tuesday, 17th March, emergency care will be available in the urban day-care centres – but only for children of parents working in certain jobs: These include, as mentioned above, all those who work in healthcare, public transport, police and fire brigade. The plans for the emergency groups will be announced on Monday in the institutions, through the media and on the city’s homepage (www.tuebingen.de).
If and how emergency supervision will be provided from Tuesday onwards, at least for primary school children, will be decided by the city administration on Monday.
Children who have been in a high-risk area within the last 14 days are not allowed to come to daycare centres or schools. These areas include Italy, Tyrol in Austria, Alsace, Lorraine and Champagne-Ardenne in France and Madrid. Children who have symptoms of respiratory diseases cannot be cared for in the daycare facilities either.
In addition, the city advices against grandparents looking after the children. People over 65 are particularly at risk of being infected.
