Hackers compromised 15 million passwords last year, not because the hackers are particularly good, but because of insecure passwords. Hackers sell the stolen data on platforms on the Darknet and the compromised accounts are then used for criminal activity. You can protect yourself against this data theft by using a “strong” password. Such a password consists of at least nine characters with a mix of capital letters, special characters and numbers.
