Services for school children to fight boredom

To prevent children from getting bored in the coming weeks, there are numerous services available online and on television. The website www.kindernetz.de offers several children’s programs including interesting explanatory videos. Kindernetz also offers clips and tips on Youtube against boredom at home.

The program with the mouse (Die Sendung mit der Maus) will be broadcasted on ARD every morning on television starting from 18th March. Stimulating topics for children will be shown and explained during the shows. Children can also play interactive games and listen to stories online at: www.wdrmaus.de

KiKa, the kid’s channel by ARD and ZDF, will broadcast the news program for children called LOGO! twice a day at 11 am and 7:50 pm. All shows as well as tips for handicrafts and games are available online: www.kika.de

Mikado is a radio show made especially for children between the ages of 7 and 13 which handles school-relevant topics: www.ndr.de Keyword ‘Mikado’.

At www.planet-schule.de, school going children from primary school to high school graduation can find instructional videos on topics such as technology, languages, society, environment or media. Under the category ‘Subjects’ (Fächer) you can find content for different class levels. Under the keyword ‘Mumbro & Zell’ you can find videos for learning German. In the media library of the SWR there are videos by ‘Planet Schule’ which can also be of interest to parents: www.ardmediathek.de/swr

The Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation (Der bayerische Rundfunk) offers learning videos for pupils from the 5th grade onwards for all school subjects: www.br.de/alphalernen
