Experts expect that more people will be infected with the Corona virus again in the fall and winter. Therefore, the Standing Commission on Vaccination (Stiko) now recommends vaccination for healthy children between the ages of five and eleven as a precautionary measure. They should only be vaccinated once. A reduced dose of the vaccine Comirnaty from Biontech is used for this purpose. From the age of six, vaccination can also be given with the vaccine Spikevax from Moderna. Previously, the Stiko had recommended vaccination only for children with pre-existing conditions or with contact with high-risk patients and for adolescents 12 years of age and older.
