Study plus training at the Cooperative State University

After graduating from high school, do you want to study or do vocational training? In Germany, it is possible to combine both. Dual universities offer the chance to combine academic studies with practical work in a company. Phases of training in the company alternate with theory blocks at the university. At the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University, there is also targeted assistance for young refugees from Ukraine.
The Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW) offers refugees from Ukraine free school-leaving evaluations and academic counseling. The DHBW has nine campuses in Baden-Württemberg, the closest of which is in Stuttgart. The university cooperates with 9,000 companies and enables part-time master studies after the bachelor’s degree. On offer are a total of 30 bachelor’s degree programs with around 100 fields of study in the areas of business, technology, social services and health, as well as 21 part-time master’s degree programs. Since the students have concluded a contract with the company, they receive remuneration from it. The amount varies depending on the sector.

and contact the applicant advisory service. The DHBW also arranges for Ukrainian refugees to attend targeted preparatory courses and advises them on finding the necessary partner company at the university. In addition, the institution supports student initiatives that take care of Ukrainian refugees. Anyone with questions can also contact the central information and admissions office: ias@]dhbw.de
In March of last year, the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science and Research also assured refugees from Ukraine that they would not have to pay tuition fees. This puts them on an equal footing with refugees from countries for which there is a high protection quota in Germany. This currently applies to Afghanistan, Eritrea, Somalia and Syria.
The DHBW is the first public dual university in Germany. It was founded on March 1, 2009 and has further developed the vocational academies founded in 1974.
