Train drivers on strike until Friday

Due to a strike, trains will also be cancelled in the Tübingen and Reutlingen region from today, Wednesday, 10 January, until Friday, 12 January. This has been announced by the train drivers’ union GdL (Gewerkschaft der Lokführer). Long-distance trains are also affected – for example, fast ICE trains from Stuttgart to Hamburg. If you want to know exactly whether the train you want to travel on is cancelled, you need to check the Deutsche Bahn website (www.bahn.de) shortly before departure. The railway itself advises passengers to postpone planned journeys during the strikes. S-Bahn trains in the Stuttgart region may also be affected.
According to Südwestrundfunk (SWR), some trains on the IRE6 line between Aulendorf, Tübingen and Stuttgart will be cancelled. The regional railway RB63 between Bad Urach and Herrenberg also has only an emergency timetable. Trains between Tübingen and Horb are also affected. Trains travelling from Tübingen in the direction of Osterburken or Heilbronn are expected to run as scheduled. This was announced by the railway company SWEG, whose trains run on these lines. However, if the DB dispatchers go on strike, SWEG trains will also be unable to run.
