Video journalist Franzi Heiler has one goal: to make it easier for migrants to arrive in Germany so that they can build an independent life. To this end, she founded easy newstime in spring 2023. She aims to explain politics, business, culture and society with five-minute news videos in easy language—free of charge and online.
The information—for example on working, naturalization or the healthcare system—can be watched, listened to and read at the same time. Anyone who wants to can have the journalist speak more slowly and read along with what she is saying—even in languages such as Arabic or Ukrainian. Subscribers to her YouTube channel can also ask questions if they don’t understand something or make comments.
According to its own information, easy newstime reaches around one million people a month via various channels such as YouTube, TikTok and Instagram. The project has sponsors and is also financed by revenue from advertising.
