Ammertalbahn: Trains are usually running after all

The planned full closure of the Ammertalbahn during the summer holidays (tun24071702) will now be reduced to one week. This has been confirmed by the Ammertalbahn public transport association. Buses instead of trains will only run from 31 August to 8 September. During the rest of the time, trains can run every half hour, as the construction work has been organised in such a way that the power supply at Tübingen station is maintained. The lack of electricity was the reason for the plan to replace the trains with buses for the entire duration of the summer holidays. However, buses will continue to run in the evenings from 7.30 pm because there is still a lack of staff in the signal boxes.
Trains will therefore run every half hour between 5.18 am and 7.18 pm. The Unterjesingen-Sandäcker stop will not be served. With the exception of the first train at 5.06 a.m. from Tübingen and 5.30 a.m. from Entringen, the intermediate services between Tübingen and Entringen will be operated by bus.
This change is DB Regio’s response to strong criticism, including from Tübingen’s mayor Boris Palmer and the mayor of Ammerbuch, Christel Halm.
