“During the Corona pandemic, many sports facilities were closed for a long time. Those who suffered most were the children,” says Tübingen’s Mayor for Social Affairs, Order and Culture, Dr. Daniela Harsch. “Even after the pandemic, we want to ensure that children have easy access to a healthy lifestyle.” Launched as a pilot project during Corona, the sports club voucher offer for children on their fourth birthday is now firmly established.
Among the offerings is a yoga class for children ages four to six at the Family Education Center (FBS). In the soccer department of the Tübingen 03 sports club, this can be used to pay for membership. In addition, the Tübinger Schwimmverein e.V. offers a beginners’ course.
These are just a few examples of many more. The vouchers are handed over directly by the day care centers on the child’s fourth birthday. If the child is not cared for in a daycare center, the voucher can be picked up at the City of Tübingen, Department of Schools and Sports, or applied for at sportfoerderung@tuebingen.de. The voucher is valid for two years.
